When you need this

The weight room has its own small language. You'll hear it from coaches, from friends who lift, and from strangers asking to share a bench. You don't need to lift heavy to talk about it, but you do need the basic words.

Two words matter most: a "rep" is one movement, and a "set" is a group of reps. "Three sets of ten" means you do ten reps, rest, and repeat three times. Americans count weights in pounds, so "fifty pounds" is about twenty-three kilos.
