Asking about exercise
“I try to work out three times a week, but it's hard.”
A2 · Elementary8 minPhrases
When you need this
Exercise comes up in small talk all the time: someone has a gym bag, a new running watch, or sore legs from the weekend. The questions are friendly, but be careful with the tone. Ask about the activity, never about the person's body or weight.
Most people answer exercise questions with a little guilt: "Not as much as I should." That's normal, and it's fine to answer the same way. Nobody expects you to be an athlete.
