When you need this

Exams, papers, group projects, a teacher who wants everything by Friday. School stress is real at every age, from high school to a night class at thirty-five. Talking about it with classmates is half the cure: you find out you're not the only one, and someone usually has a good idea.

Notice how often these phrases talk about time: "due Friday", "running out of time", "behind". That's because school stress is mostly about too much work and too few hours. The other group is about asking for help, from a friend, a study group or a teacher. Asking a teacher for more time is normal in the US, and a polite, early request usually gets a kind answer.

If school pressure feels heavy for weeks, not days, tell a teacher, a parent or a friend you trust. Saying it out loud is the first step.
