Meaning
To read someone's mind is to know what they are thinking without being told. Nobody can really do it, of course; the picture is someone opening your head like a book. Most of the time you hear it as a happy reaction: someone offers exactly what you wanted, and you say "You read my mind."
It is informal and friendly, fine at home and at work. There is a second, more serious use, usually in the negative: "I can't read your mind." That is a complaint. It means "you didn't tell me, so how could I know?" People say it in relationships and on teams when someone expected a thing without asking for it. Said calmly, it is fair. Said sharply, it can start an argument.
