When you need this

Neighbors are people you'll see for years, so the language around them is friendly and careful. You introduce yourself when someone moves in, ask small favors, return them, and now and then raise a problem like noise or a blocked driveway. Each of these works best when you keep the relationship in mind, not just the problem.

The polite pattern for favors is "Would you mind...?" and for problems it's "I don't know if you've noticed, but..." Both give the other person room to say yes or fix things without losing face.
