When you need this
The honeymoon is the trip a couple takes right after the wedding. It's also the safest topic at any wedding. When you're stuck next to a stranger at the reception, or you see a coworker who got married last month, the honeymoon gets people talking in seconds.
Before the trip, ask "Where are you headed for the honeymoon?" After the trip, ask "How was the honeymoon?" Both are open, friendly and never too personal. Notice that people often say "we" now: "We're going to Portugal," "We loved it." That's part of the fun of being newlyweds.
Not every couple leaves right away. Some take a short trip first, a mini-moon, and save the big one for later. Some can't get time off work. "We're postponing it" is a perfectly normal answer, and a good listener says "That's smart" rather than "Oh no."
