The exam is over, and the talking starts. First, how it felt: "That was hard," "It went OK." Then, a few days later, the results. Most schools post grades online, so the first sign is often a message in a group chat: "Grades are up."
Sometimes things go wrong. You were sick on exam day, or you think a question was graded wrong. American universities usually have a process for this. A makeup exam is one you take later because you missed the real one for a good reason. A retake is a second try after you fail. You can also ask a professor to look at your grade again. Ask politely, and bring a reason. "I think there might be a mistake" gets a better response than "This grade is wrong."
