Shadow Nguyen first. His "Great" is sarcastic; say it flat and low so nobody could hear it as real. Then take Charlotte's part. She turns a complaint into an action, and her best lines are short and practical: "It's temporary." "Nobody reads the bottom." Give each one a small pause after it.

  1. CharlotteNguyen, have you read the email about the remodel?
  2. NguyenI skimmed it. They're finally replacing the old carpet?
  3. CharlotteMuch more than that. They're taking down the walls on our whole floor. It's going open plan.
  4. NguyenOpen plan? I'm on sales calls all day.
  5. CharlotteThe email says there'll be quiet rooms for calls. Eight of them.
  6. NguyenFor sixty people? That's going to be a fight every morning.
  7. CharlotteMaybe. But first there's the move. We're working on the fourth floor for six weeks while they build it.
  8. NguyenThe fourth floor? Isn't that where the old training rooms are?
  9. CharlotteYes. Folding tables, no windows, and one coffee machine for everyone.
  10. NguyenSix weeks of that. Great.
  11. CharlotteIt's temporary. And honestly, our floor is falling apart. The heating's been broken since January, and this is Manchester.
  12. NguyenTrue. I've been wearing my coat at my desk.
  13. CharlotteSo we put up with the fourth floor, and we get a new office with heating and better light.
  14. NguyenAnd eight quiet rooms for sixty people.
  15. CharlotteThen let's say something now, before the design is final. They want feedback by Friday.
  16. NguyenThey do? That wasn't in the part of the email I read.
  17. CharlotteIt was at the bottom. Nobody reads the bottom.
  18. NguyenOkay. I'll write to them today and ask for more quiet rooms. Politely.
  19. CharlottePut my name on it too. Two names are harder to ignore.

Say it today

Use it once in a real conversation before tomorrow. Out loud counts, even to yourself.
