The dishwasher debate

Take Hassan's part first, then Nora's. They're roommates who like each other but are tired of this argument. Nora is quick and sure; Hassan is careful, almost like a lawyer. Copy her honest surprise in "We have a manual?"

1. NoraHassan, look at this glass. It came out of the dishwasher dirtier than it went in.
2. HassanThat's strange. I loaded it this morning.
3. NoraI know. That's the problem. You put the bowls facing up.
4. HassanSo they don't fall over. That's logical.
5. NoraThey fill with dirty water. And you put the big pans in front of the soap.
6. HassanOkay, maybe I haven't got the hang of it yet. But you pack it too tight.
7. NoraI do not.
8. HassanLast week you fit twelve plates, a pot and a cutting board in one row.
9. NoraThat's efficient, not too tight.
10. HassanAnd do you rinse things off first? The manual says we don't have to.
11. NoraWe have a manual?
12. HassanIt's in the drawer with the takeout menus. I read it last night.
13. NoraOf course you did. What else does it say?
14. HassanClean the filter once a month. Have you ever cleaned the filter?
15. NoraI didn't know there was a filter.
16. HassanMe neither, until yesterday. Let's look. It's under the bottom rack.
17. NoraOh, that's disgusting. Is that rice? From last year?
18. HassanSo it wasn't only my bowls. The machine couldn't breathe.
19. NoraFine. We're both guilty. I'll clean it, you put the bowls facing down.
