If you were unfairly criticized, what would you do?
“Can you give me a specific example, so I understand what went wrong?”

What they are really asking
Everyone gets criticized unfairly at some point. A manager blames you for a teammate's mistake, or a client is angry about something you didn't do. The interviewer wants to know how you handle that moment. Do you snap back, sulk for a week, or deal with it like an adult?
There's a second layer. Criticism that feels unfair is sometimes partly fair, and people who can find the true part are much easier to work with. So a strong answer shows emotional control first, then curiosity, then a calm way to set the record straight if you need to.
A shape that works
Pause, ask, find the true part, correct calmly. Don't respond in the heat of the moment. Ask for specifics, so you understand what the person saw. Look honestly for anything you could have done better. Then, if the facts are wrong, raise them later and privately, with evidence, and without making it a fight. Close by saying what you learned or how the relationship ended up.
