Meaning

Earlier in this unit you met "easier said than done" inside a sentence. Here it's a reply. Someone gives you advice, "Stop worrying", "Get more sleep", "Ask for a raise", and you answer "That's easier said than done." You're saying the advice is right, but following it is hard in your real life.

It is neutral and polite enough for work, but it can close the conversation, as if you're rejecting the help. To keep things friendly, add the reason or a question: "That's easier said than done with two kids. How do you manage it?" If someone says it to you, don't argue. Agree, then offer something smaller: "True. Maybe start with one night a week."
