Meaning

"Out of this world" means extremely good, so good it couldn't come from our ordinary planet. You hear it most about food, but also about a view, a concert, a hotel, a performance. It is pure praise and a little dramatic, which is the point: you're saying "normal words aren't enough".

It is informal and friendly, fine with anyone, and it works well in a review or a thank-you: "The cake you made was out of this world." Because it's strong, it sounds odd for something that's only fine. Use it when you really mean it. Similar phrases are "amazing", "incredible" and the more casual "to die for", which is mostly about food.
