Meaning
"Let's go fifty-fifty" means let's split it exactly in half: fifty percent for you, fifty for me. People say it about a bill, a taxi, a gift for a friend, or the profits from a small project. "Split it fifty-fifty" means the same.
It's close to "go Dutch", but not the same. Going Dutch means each person pays for what they had. Going fifty-fifty means you add it all up and divide by two, even if one of you ordered the lobster. The phrase is casual and fine with friends, roommates and colleagues. "Fifty-fifty" on its own also describes a chance that could go either way: "It's fifty-fifty whether it rains."
