Sleep
“I stayed up way too late last night, so I need coffee.”

When you need this
"How did you sleep?" is one of the most common morning questions in any home, and "I'm so tired" might be the most common complaint at work. Sleep talk is small talk: people compare bad nights, blame the neighbors or the baby, and joke about their alarm clocks.
English has a lot of vivid phrases for bad sleep, because people enjoy complaining about it. "I didn't sleep a wink" and "I was tossing and turning all night" are more common in conversation than "I slept badly", and they sound much more natural.
