When you need this
Two people in one small kitchen need a plan, or they end up reaching for the same knife. Cooking together is mostly about splitting the jobs ("I'll do the vegetables, you do the sauce"), asking where things are, and checking before you change someone else's recipe.
Notice how often people offer instead of ask. "Want me to...?" and "Should I...?" let you help without taking over. When the other person is the lead cook, you check before adding salt or turning up the heat, because in most kitchens the person who started the dish owns it.
