When you need this

Every review has a part about the future: what you want to get better at, and how. It's also where you'll hear criticism, even gentle criticism. Talking about weaknesses at work is a skill. Too humble and you sound like you're failing; too defensive and you sound like you can't learn.

The trick is to name the area and a plan in the same breath. "I tend to take on too much, so I'm going to push back earlier" shows you've already thought about it. When your manager raises something, "That's helpful to hear" buys you a second, and a question like "What would good look like?" turns a criticism into a goal you can reach.
