The pattern
"Let's not" plus a verb suggests that a group avoid something. "Let's not argue" calms a tense moment. "Let's not wait any longer" pushes things forward. It is softer than "Don't", because it includes the speaker: we are both agreeing not to do it.
It is the diplomat's pattern. When a meeting drifts, "Let's not get into that now" parks a topic without dismissing it. When someone panics, "Let's not jump to conclusions" slows things down. The positive is "Let's", which you already know from "Let's go".
